HOME   /   ABOUT US   /   WHAT WE BELIEVE   /   WHAT WE TEACH   /   MAN

We teach that while man’s nature is corrupted with sin, both by nature and by choice (Ro.5:10-12), the freedom of his will remains. God always carries out His perfect plan, even in human decision-making, however man’s decisions are still freely, willingly chosen and not coerced. They are the real decisions of the individual, for which that individual is responsible (Ezk.18:31-32, 24:13, Mt.23:37, 2 Cor.5:10).

We teach that free will and the sovereign control of God are, paradoxically, compatible (Acts 4:28). God controls all things, but is in no sense guilty of sin or the cause of sin (Dt.32:4).

  About Marriage
We teach that marriage is the single, exclusive union of one man and one woman, solemnized by a life commitment, and recognized by the State. Marriage is a gift from God to reveal the union between Christ and His church and to provide for the man and the woman in marriage the framework for intimate companionship, the channel of sexual expression according to biblical standards, and the means for procreation of the human race. For all those reasons, the biblical male and female roles are very important and ought not to be altered.

The Bible teaches that legitimate sexual relations are exercised solely between one man and one woman who have been united in marriage. Hence, all other forms of sexual activity, including sexual relations outside marriage or between individuals of the same sex violate Biblical standards. All forms of sexual immorality, including fornication, adultery, homosexuality, lesbianism, pornography, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, any attempt to change one’s sex, or disagreement with one’s biological sex are forbidden in Scripture.

Accordingly, Agape Bible Church, its Pastor(s), staff and members will not perform same-sex unions or same-sex marriages, nor shall its’ property or resources be used for such purposes.

A civil government’s sanction of a union will be recognized as a legitimate marriage by Agape Bible Church only to the extent that it is consistent with the definition of “marriage” found in this statement.

We teach that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. We teach that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines of the church.
